Hailing from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Joel D. Jacob is an artist of many trades. Foremost, he is a vocalist with a bachelor's degree in music. He is, also, a writer of short stories and comics; and a graphic designer who enjoys fantasy edits. He has an annual series in which he photobombs the various celebrities attending the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party portrait studio. His digital work has been recognized by the incomparable Ciara in a series parodying the cover art of her seventh studio album, Beauty Marks. At this moment, the multi-hyphenate is focused on producing his first comic, Black and Bruised: Starring Ostian Ortiz, which will serve as the first story from his brand Rapture Cat Comics!

As a child, Joel’s passion for reading helped expand his imagination and transformed his own creativity. He indulged in several literature classes during his matriculation, in which, he discovered a love for the very short stories and comics he would soon create. The author finds kinship in the works of Octavia Butler, Brian Michael Bendis, and Brandon Massey. Every story highlights the Black, Queer experience in all its glory and authenticity.

Ever the knowledge seeker, Joel obtained his degree in Music after rediscovering his passion for voice while featuring in productions like ‘The Secret Garden,’ ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,’ and a successful engagement of private label showcases at the Pioneer Club of Lake Charles, Louisiana! The tenor’s vocal stylings range from classical art song to R&B; and he shares his knowledge with, ‘Heritage Voice Studio!” Along with his own teaching practice, the creator enjoys writing songs for film and television. He believes every show and every film has a song that needs to be sung!
